Training, conditioning, recovery, load management, nutrition, pacing, equipment and efficiency optimisation — This Peaks-specific coaching program covers details beyond the everyday training sessions to really nail this unique event. Offered to riders just looking to finish comfortably, as well as athletes looking to shave big time off their Peaks ride.

 1. Training Prescription and Programming - PEAKS Specific

Peaks demands a uniquely tailored approach to physical preparation. With careful consideration of your individual needs, current physiology and fitness level, I’ll ensure you arrive at the start line as the strongest, most prepared version of yourself.
 

  • Testing and groundwork, pinpointing strength and weakness, understanding current physiology and metabolic efficiency to guide individualised training prescription

  • Daily training or recovery targets delivered through TrainingPeaks 

  • Daily session analysis and debriefs to keep your progress on track

  • Training, conditioning, rest and recovery, tapering and event day strategies

2. Nutritional Support + Event Day Nutrition Plan

Peaks places extraordinary demands on your body — including your digestive system. Every rider is different and even the highest fitness level means little without the right fuelling strategy. I'll provide personalised nutrition guidance throughout your training phases, ensuring your body adapts, performs, and recovers optimally. We'll also develop a detailed, custom event-day nutrition plan — tested, refined, and ready — so you can ride with confidence and avoid any nasty surprises late in the day when you're powering up the back of Falls.

3. Power to Weight Optimisation

Over 4,000m of vertical gain — W/KG matters. Optimising your power to weight ratio is a balancing act. Get it right, and you’ll float up the climbs with less effort, get it wrong, and fatigue, depletion, and diminished training quality soon follow. â€‹

 4.  Equipment Optimisation and Mechanical Support

7-13hrs. Efficiency is everything. Even small losses—a wasted watt, suboptimal gearing, or poor tyre choice—can add up hugely over an event like Peaks. What’s fast on your local training loop isn’t necessarily optimal for this challenge. I draw on years as a professional mechanic, elite level racing experience and valuable test data used in the professional peloton to get you an optimised setup—no matter your current bike or equipment.

5. Strategy, Technical Logistical Support

Peaks is massive. It’s not just a ride, and while it’s not a race, there’s far more to manage than just pedalling. A single misstep—getting caught up on the first descent or missing the perfect pace group—can define your day. Don’t spend hours playing catch-up.

I'll guide you through every detail. Feed bag planning, group target, pacing, essential kit, and contingency plans for mishaps like dropped bottles or extreme heat.

6. Bike Handling and Skill Development (ADL based 1:1 or group sessions)

What goes up must come down. The descents of the peaks course are no joke and present a major opportunity to gain time with minimal physical effort. Similarly, riding efficiently in the right group can be the difference between a 12 hour and a 10 hour day. I'll help you refine your descending, bike handling and bunch skills by developing fundamentals used in the pro peloton, elite downhill MTB and gravel racing.

7. Bike Fitting (ADL Based)

Peaks is a long day in the saddle. A bike that isn't dialled in to suit your unique physiology and optimised for the course can make a big day feel like hell. Adelaide-based bike fitting ensures your position is optimised for comfort, power, and endurance, helping you stay strong from the first pedal stroke to the last descent into the finish.

It’s not just about uphill efficiency—Peaks features plenty of fast-rolling flats and descents where a sustainable aerodynamic position can save significant energy and time over the course of this epic event.

  • Structured, adaptive and individual  training and recovery programming, specifically tuned to the demands of the PEAKS event, delivered through TrainingPeaks. Includes a TrainingPeaks Premium Athlete account providing clear structure, daily guidance, and seamless communication.

  • Weekly direct communication via call, message, email, video call, or in-person with 1:1 ride/supported training sessions for Adelaide-based riders.
